Industrialization of Scientific Softwares (training)
Training ›
Computational Fluid Dynamics - Combustion
Required Education / Niveau requis
Master or Diplom Arbeit
From / Date de début
ASAP
Duration / Durée
6 months
Context / Contexte
More and more industrial actors (SNECMA, SNECMA rocket engines, Turboméca, PSA, Renault; IFP-EN) need an intense technology transfer between their engineering teams and the scientific tools developed in french labs. Cerfacs develops a project called C3S which involves meshing tools, high performance solvers, analysis software controlled through a graphical user interface. Today, C3S allows engineers in multiple companies to perform in-house high performance large-eddy simulations of helicopter combustion chambers, using cutting-edge combustion models on the latest national supercalculators.
The concept being now validated, the C3S project is bound for an increase of the scientific tools proposed to the industrial and academic communities. Among these tools are: AVBP-RG a real gas version of the LES solver, AVSP and AVTP which are respectively an acoustic solver and a thermal solver, the new YALES-2 particularly suited to non-compressible flows (http://www.idris.fr/docs/docu/projets-Babel/YALES2/CR-projet-YALES2.html). Beyond becoming a mere access to several solvers, the C3S framework will join the global effort of Cerfacs to make repeated, massively parallel simulations involving coupled solvers.
Description / Description
The work will focus on three tasks:
- A GUI prototype to test different technical
solutions. The best one will be implemented in the main GUI.
- The software architecture to operate several
softwares, coupled or not, from the same GUI.
- The management of moving meshes in the interface, a critical bottleneck for the automotive community.
The engineer will be in direct contact with
industrial and academic customers, trough the installation/hotline/technical
support process. The training period can lead the way to a 12+6 months research
engineer position. Considering the expectations of the C3S users, and the
working context, the candidate must show excellent teamwork aptitudes, a
constant scientific curiosity, and some rigor. Requested skills are, in decreasing
order of importance: Unix, Tcl, Python, Tk, GUI, Fortran90, event-programming,
XML, C/C++
