Solution methods for linear systems

In this training course, modern methods for solving sparse linear systems of equations including both direct and iterative methods are detailed. Direct methods based on multifrontal or supernodal approaches are also reviewed. Then, Krylov subspace methods are presented for the iterative solution of sparse linear systems. Preconditioning techniques are also addressed. Finally, a hands-on session with detailed exercices is organized to illustrate the main concepts.
