Turbomachines
Rotating machines, such as gas or wind turbine, are involved in most of the energy conversion processes. Increasing the efficiency of these systems is thus a necessary step to improve industrial processes and reduce pollutant emissions. For computational resources reasons, most of the industrial simulations focus on a limited part of the system (such as an isolated blade) that is solved with a steady approach. With the objective to improve knowledge regarding complex unsteady flows and interaction between components, the Turbomachine group is currently working on unsteady flow simulation methods (Large Eddy Simulation, unsteady RANS...), simulations of very large systems (whole multistage compressor...) and the control of aerodynamic instabilities.Flow control in compressors
Unsteady flows in turbines
