ODESIM is an ESPRIT Project funded by the European Commission. Its main objective is the development of a set of software tools for the kinematic and dynamic optimum design of multibody systems. Several types of designs are targeted: interactive kinematic design, designer-driven optimization and fully automatic optimization. ODESIM attempts to bring the world of multibody design closer to CAD environments through a tight integration between CAD programs and multibody solvers. This will allow CAD designers to create and optimize multibody designs following the parametric or variational approach they currently use. ODESIM will use High Performance Computing and Networking techniques to perform parallel computations in the most CPU intensive optimization problems.
