Assimilation diagnostics

• Diagnosing implied background error variances in model and observation space (namelist)

  • Compute (approximately) the diagonal of B, MBMT, HBHT and HMBMTHT using randomization (namelist)
  • This computation is also needed online for the background check

• Diagnosing implied background error covariances (namelist)

  • Compute columns of B

• Single observation (T, S, SST, SSH) or profile (T, S) experiments using prescribed innovations (namelist)

  • Some redundancy with previous diagnostic
  • Some output still in Vairmer format, other in NetCDF
