Discover Toulouse: The Pink City Experience
Toulouse, often called “La Ville Rose” (the Pink City) because of its distinctive terracotta buildings, is one of France’s most vibrant and welcoming cities. Located in the southwest, it combines a rich historical heritage with a dynamic atmosphere driven by its strong aerospace and research industries. While attending your conference, take time to explore the charming old town, stroll along the Garonne River or the Canal du Midi (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and visit landmarks such as the Capitole, the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, or the Cité de l’Espace. Toulouse is also known for its relaxed lifestyle, lively cafés, and excellent cuisine. Be sure to try local specialties such as cassoulet (a hearty bean and meat stew), saucisse de Toulouse, and regional cheeses, ideally paired with wines from the nearby Occitanie region. In October, the weather is usually mild and pleasant, with temperatures around 15–22°C, making it a great time to enjoy the city outdoors.
